Peterson Dark Flake 50g Pipe Tobacco is a rich Virginia-based flake combining carefully selected matured Virginias with a measured addition of Perique. Formerly produced under the Dunhill name, Dark Flake offers a fuller interpretation of the traditional Virginia flake, with natural tobacco sweetness, dark fruit character and a subtle spicy edge from the Perique.

The foundation of Peterson Dark Flake is its selection of Virginia tobaccos. These provide the blend with natural sweetness and the familiar hay, earth and matured fruit characteristics associated with quality Virginia leaf. A small quantity of Perique tobacco adds additional depth and spice, complementing the Virginias without overwhelming their natural character.

The tobaccos are pressed before being sliced into dark brown and mahogany-coloured flakes. This traditional flake pipe tobacco preparation allows the different leaves to mature together while producing a dense tobacco that can be prepared according to individual preference before filling the pipe.

Peterson Dark Flake Pipe Tobacco is distinguished by the combination of matured Virginia leaf and a restrained measure of Perique. The Virginia forms the heart of the blend, providing natural sweetness and depth, while the Perique introduces a contrasting spicy quality and contributes to its darker fruit character.

Unlike an aromatic pipe tobacco, Dark Flake relies upon the character of the tobacco itself rather than a pronounced added flavouring. The pressed preparation further develops the Virginias before the tobacco is sliced into traditional flakes, resulting in a darker and fuller profile than Peterson's standard Virginia Flake.
