Fribourg & Treyer Vintage Flake

Fribourg & Treyer Vintage Flake 50g Pipe Tobacco is a traditional straight Virginia flake created from carefully selected Virginia tobaccos that are expertly blended and aged under pressure. Presented in a classic 50g tin, Vintage Flake allows the natural sweetness, depth and complexity of matured Virginia leaf to remain at the heart of the blend.

The character of Fribourg & Treyer Vintage Flake comes entirely from its selection and preparation of Virginia tobacco. Gold and brown Virginias are brought together before undergoing an extended period of maturation under pressure. This pressing and ageing process allows the natural characteristics of the different Virginia leaves to integrate, producing the mellow and subtly fermented character associated with the blend.

After ageing, the pressed tobacco is sliced into neat flakes. This traditional flake pipe tobacco presentation preserves the dense character of the pressed leaf while allowing the flakes to be prepared according to individual preference before filling the pipe.

A Traditional Aged Virginia Flake

Fribourg & Treyer Vintage Flake is distinguished by its straightforward approach to traditional Virginia pipe tobacco. Rather than relying on added aromatic flavourings, the blend develops its character through the careful selection, pressing and maturation of quality Virginia leaf.

Ageing the tobacco under pressure allows the natural sugars and characteristics of the Virginias to develop and marry together before the finished tobacco is cut into flakes. The result is a naturally sweet and mellow profile with the subtle tang and depth commonly associated with matured Virginia tobacco.

Presented in a 50g pipe tobacco tin, Fribourg & Treyer Vintage Flake is a classic example of a straight Virginia flake tobacco. Its combination of selected Virginias, pressure ageing and traditional flake presentation gives this long-established blend its distinctive identity among Fribourg & Treyer pipe tobaccos.
